Freshman

You are a beginning freshman if you currently attend high school or have graduated from high school and have never attended a college or university.
Freshman may apply to any of the following:
- College of Applied Health Sciences
- College of Architecture and Arts
- College of Business Administration
- College of Education
- College of Engineering
- College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Freshman admission decisions are based on an evaluation of a variety of factors including:
- High school coursework and grade point average
- ACT or SAT score
- Cumulative High School Percentile Rank (HSPR)
- Grade trend and course levels
- Personal Statement
Freshman decision letter will be sent between November and March. Freshman are admitted for the Fall semester only.
To complete your application you must submit the following to the UIC Office of Admissions by the January 15 deadline:
- Application
- $50 Applicaton fee or fee waiver
- Official transcripts from all high schools attended
- Official ACT scores or SAT scores. Test scores listed on high school transcripts will be accepted as official. (UIC ACT test code: 1155; UIC SAT test code: 1851)
- Personal Statement
- Official GED scores, if applicable

The ACT and High School Percentile Rank (HSPR) ranges of the entering freshman class of 2011 listed below show that admissions standards vary across colleges. All majors within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences have the same ACT and HSPR requirements.
