Chicago,
Communication, and Culture is a three-week educational program
designed for visitors to Chicago who want to explore the
city and improve their English.
Participants
in the program will improve their vocabulary, listening,
and conversation skills through topics about Chicago's unique
culture and history, such as

in Film
- Chicago
Politics: Vote Early and Often
- Chicago
Architecture

Chicago Blues and Jazz
- Immigration
and Industry in Chicago
- Prohibition
and Al Capone in Chicago
- Chicago's
Ethnic Neighborhoods
- Chicago's
Sports Teams: Da Bears, Da Bulls, and Da Cubs
The program includes 12-15 hours of classroom study each
week on our UIC campus. Guided visits and tours to Chicago's
most popular events and attractions complete the learning
experience. Optional weekend excursions can be arranged
through our office.
The
program is designed for students with a basic knowledge
of English who are interested in building on their skills.
The
program is open to students who
- are
visitors to the US and hold a B-1 or B-2 (tourist) visa,
- have
entered the United States on a visa waiver,
- have
an F-1 visa and who wish to enrich their summer break
with additional study, or
-
are US citizens or residents.
Please
note that this program is non-intensive--it offers 12-15
class hours per week and does not qualify as full-time study.

Homestay
The Tutorium offers a Homestay program through OvECS (a
private company). Homestay is an opportunity to live in
a home with an American family located in the Chicago area.
