A Map for Change: Asset Map of the Near West Side
1997

The West Side Consortium, an organization of approximately 20 organizations - including Henry Horner Homes, Rockwell Gardens, and ABLA public housing developments, the Chicago Housing Authority, Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital, and the University of Illinois at Chicago - was created as a vehicle to share information, build consensus around common issues, and cooperate on shared initiatives. The Consortium asked the City Design Center to develop an “Asset Map” of information on physical development necessary to set priorities and create initiatives. The map, showing current land use, recent physical changes, and area assets and problems, is being used by Consortium members in its planning strategies, and has been published on the World Wide Web site of the City Design Center to make it available to a wider audience. The Asset Map can be found on the Web at http://www.uic.edu/aa/cdc/
