Gender and City Spaces
Lecture Series 2001-2002
The City Design Center co-sponsored the "Gender and City Spaces"
lecture series presented by the Gender and Women's Studies program at
UIC. The series included:
"Women, Resistance, and Public Housing: A Case Study at Wentworth
Gardens" by Roberta Feldman, Director of the City Design Center and
Susan Stall, Sociology Department, Northeastern Illinois University;
"Can I Have a House with a Door? Indian Women and Development"
by Hemalata Dandekar, Urban Planning Department, University of Michigan;
"Immigrants from Oz: Marking Chicago's 'Boys Town'" by Christopher
Reed, Art Department, Lake Forest College; and
"If I Can't Dance Shirtless, It's Not a Revolution: Sexuality and
Feminism in the Twin Cities, 1970s" by Anne Enke, Women's Studies
and History Departments, University of Wisconsin-Madison.
