LCDC Mapping Community Investment
Spring 1999
Lawndale Christian Development Corporation (LCDC) has been developing
housing and social services in North Lawndale for several decades. LCDC’s
partnership with Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago has allowed
it to lend money to North Lawndale residents and provide technical assistance
in contractor selection, cost estimating, and construction monitoring.
In the Spring of 1999, LCDC approached the City Design Center for assistance
in mapping LCDC developments and major institutions in the North Lawndale
community area. The City Design Center produced two maps, one locating
all of the LCDC housing developments and LCDC Neighborhood Housing Services
residential loans; the second, locating the major institutions and block
clubs in North Lawndale. The maps were slated for use in presentations
to local foundations, government officials, and community members.
