Marking Industrial Revitalization: The Pilsen
Industrial Corridor Gateway Design
1995
ESDC approached the UIC School of Architecture, which, in co-operation
with the City Design Center, organized a student design charette for a
gateway identity-marker for the Pilsen industrial corridor entryways.
A project designed by Michael Monroe and Michael Thompson was chosen from
among several strong designs for further elaboration. Subsequent design
development is underway by a professional firm. Construction of the gateway
is expected in the very near future.
