Pilsen Plaza Design
Spring 1998
Because there are few outdoor areas in the Pilsen community where residents
or vendors can congregate, The Resurrection Project (TRP) seeks to develop
a public plaza in the area outside their offices and next to the adjacent
church. TRP asked the City Design Center to meet with community representatives
and residents to gather their input about the communitys open space
needs and the design of the plaza. The City Design Center assisted in
coordinating the participatory process and worked with TRP staff in preparing
alternative sketch scenarios for the plaza design. The design process
was later expanded upon by the architecture and planning students in the
Fall 1998 CityLab studio course.
