Roosevelt Corridor Research Action Plan
Fall 1998
New large scale developments such as the Illinois Medical District Development,
the ABLA Hope VI redevelopment, and the UIC
South Campus Expansion are likely to impact the adjacent Pilsen neighborhood.
The new office and commercial space, housing units, and institutional
buildings characteristic of these large scale projects will change the
character of the community and are expected to create gentrification pressures.
The Resurrection Project (TRP) in Pilsen asked the City Design Center
to assist in assessing the impact of these developments. The Center collected,
analyzed, and mapped the required information including the likely new
land uses, employment, and housing.
