Supporting Industrial Development: Prototypic
Industrial Building Designs
1996
To further lend to the revitalization of Pilsens industrial base,
ESDC sought to demonstrate the potential use of smaller industrial parcels.
Again, the community-based organization asked the City Design Center for
assistance. A School of Architecture undergraduate architecture design
studio developed prototypic designs for industrial facilities for several
sites. Several student projects were chosen by the faculty and director
of the ESDC both for feasibility and design ex-cellence. The visiting
faculty member in the studio, Avi Lothan of DeStefano and Partners, donated
his time to supervise these students to develop their schemes at his professional
office. Presently, interest has been expressed in the implementation of
one of the schemes by an investor.
