POSTChicago: Projects April 2003 – April 2004 exhibits posters and documentation from the first year of the Chicago-based project POST. POST is an initiative that commissions Chicago-based artists to create posters for the public space that are posted monthly throughout various neighborhoods. POST proposes to increase the artist's audience, potentially generating new forms of intervention, discussion, and communication. Considering the billboard, poster, leaflet, flyer, and other means of inexpensive mass-produced communicative media, POST provides another means of distribution for a vast range of ideas and considerations. The exhibition will feature a year of the monthly posters by artists such as Pedro Velez, Andy Hall, Rena Leinberger, Michael Wolf, John Neff, Vincent Dermody, Artists of the Little City Multi-Disciplinary Arts Center, Philip von Zweck, Kristen VanDeventer, Ben Gill, Siebren Versteeg, and Deva Maitland. A limited supply of posters is available at the show. POSTChicago is a project of Keri Butler and Lisa Williamson. For more information check their website http://post-chicago.com |
