Virtual Spaces, Sep 97, installation view

Virtual Spaces is an exhibition of interactive virtual reality and electronic art created by the Electronic Visualization Laboratory in conjunction with the Eighth International Symposium on Electronic Arts organized by the Inter-Society for Electronic Arts. The work exhibited utilizes state-of-the-art computer technology, including the CAVE virtual reality system, and the ImmersaDesk virtual reality drafting table.

These virtual reality display systems are used by the artists to form a variety of imaginary worlds, ranging from a medieval labyrinth to contemporary spaces. Using this technology, gallery visitors explore and manipulate real-time computer generated environments. Interactive video, photography, and interactive performance are also exhibited.
