For over a decade, Harrell Fletcher has worked collaboratively and individually on socially engaged interdisciplinary projects. Concerned with the accessibility of art, he is committed to developing systems with which all individuals, regardless of backgrounds,   can interact with contemporary art. Past projects have included a video featuring babies encountered on the streets of NYC, lawn sculptures made in the likeness of Fletcher's neighbors , and the creation of a distinct library within an existing library.   In 2002 Fletcher started Learning To Love You More , a participatory web site with Miranda July (www.learningtoloveyoumore.com).

Fletcher received his MFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts in 1994, and additionally obtained certification in Ecological Horticulture from UC Santa Cruz in 1996.   He has exhibited widely throughout the U.S. and Europe and has recently been included in exhibitions at Domaine de Kerguéhennec Centre d'Art, Bignan, France; In Situ, Paris; White Columns, NY; and Jack Hanley Gallery, Los Angeles.   His work was included in the 2004 Whitney Biennial .
