Erkki Huhtamo

Huhtamo works as writer, researcher, lecturer and curator in the field of audiovisual media culture. He is a pioneer in the burgeoning field of media archaeology, a project for excavating “forgotten, neglected or suppressed media-cultural phenomena” in order to develop a new history of media.

Huhtamo teaches in the Design and Media Arts Department of UCLA. He has been a member of many media festival juries and organization committees worldwide, including ISEA 2004, the ICC Biennale (Tokyo), The Interactive Media Festival (Los Angeles), and the online exhibition Portraits in Cyberspace (The MIT Media Lab).
