Dave McKenzie's videos, sculptures, installations and performances desire to make mundane objects and gestures relevant. Casting ordinary items, such as coffee mugs and souvenir statues, into extraordinary situations, McKenzie practices a form of pop conceptualism that results in new, often witty, interpretations of the everyday world around us.

McKenzie received a BFA in printmaking from the University of the Arts, Philadephia and studied at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Skowhegan, Maine. His work has been included in group exhibitions including In Practice , Sculpture Center, Long Island City; 24/7 , Contemporary Art Center, Vilnius, Lithuania; and Queens International, Queens Museum of Art.   Among his recent video screenings are Videos in Progress: Dave McKenzie, RISD Museum, Rhode Island and Videodrome II , at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York.   McKenzie has a solo exhibition at 40,000, Chicago, opening February 3, 2006.   He lives and works in Brooklyn.
