Bob Nickas

A curator and critic, Bob Nickas is currently Curatorial Advisor for P.S. 1 Contemporary Arts Center in New York City. Nickas is widely regarded for his distinctive exhibition programs and perceptive prose. He was a founding editor of Index magazine and regularly contributes to a variety of periodicals and publications, such as Artforum and   numerous artists' monographs.   Nickas is the author of such works as Live Free or Die, After the Observatory and Collection Diary , a personal chronicle of his 2004 project, Collection (or How I Spent a Year ).

As an independent curator, he has organized more than forty exhibitions for galleries and museums.   Recent curatorial endeavors include a survey of work by Joan Wallace and a group exhibition of abstract painting, The Painted World .
