Pierre Dorion Dorion’s understated paintings of architectural spaces and objects generate a palpable sense of the uncanny. From the most mundane subjects—a tie, a bathroom stall, a flight of stairs—he creates an irresolute stillness and an affecting sense of anxiety. These paintings and works on paper are based upon photographs he takes while traveling and function in a space between painting, photography and installation. Pierre Dorion lives and works in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Solo exhibitions of his work have been held at the Centre International d’art Contemporain, Montreal, the Southern Alberta Art Gallery, the Art Gallery of York University, Galerie René Blouin, Montreal and Jack Shainman Gallery, New York.
