Master of Science (MS) Degree in Biostatistics
Admissions requirements An applicant must have all of the following:
  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited school, preferably with a major in mathematics or biological sciences
  2. An undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.00 (A=4.00), and
  3. A combined Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score of 1,000 (verbal plus quantitative)
Coursework must include a background in calculus up through and including multiple integration, equivalent to the following courses offered at UIC: MATH180, MATH181, and MATH210. Grades in mathematics courses are especially important.

Students are allowed only one grade of C or less in required courses. Courses may be re-taken to improve a grade. The Graduate College requires a grade point average of at least 3.00 (A=4.00).

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biostatistics
Admissions requirements Applicants must have a 1) a master's degree in statistics or biostatistics from an accredited school; 2) a combined undergraduate/graduate grade point average of at least 3.00 (A = 4.00); and (3) a combined Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score of 1,000 (verbal plus quantitative). Admission to the PhD program is highly competitive. Grades in masters coursework, level of interest, and matching of interests with current faculty will all be taken into consideration.

The Graduate College requires a grade point average of at least 3.00 (A=4.00). Students who are interested in the PhD but do not have a masters level degree should apply first to the MS program. Upon completion of the MS they may then apply for the PhD.

Master of Public Health (MPH) Degree in Quantitative Methods
Admissions requirements An applicant must have (1) a baccalaureate degree from an accredited school, preferably with a major in the biological, physical, or social sciences, (2) an undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.00 (A=4.00), and (3) a combined Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score of 1,000 (verbal plus quantitative). Coursework must show evidence of reasonable ability in quantitative or mathematical areas.
