The University of Illinois at Chicago earned its maintenance of accreditation in business and accounting from The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
Less than 5 percent of the world's business schools have achieved AACSB accreditation, which involves a process of rigorous internal review and evaluation. Each of these schools must develop and implement a plan that meets AACSB standards requiring a high-quality teaching environment, a commitment to continuous improvement, and curricula responsive to the needs of business. To realize accounting accreditation, an institution must first earn or maintain AACSB business accreditation and meet an additional set of standards that are specific to the discipline and profession of accounting.
"The review team highlighted both our success in recruiting talented, new faculty as well as the progress that the college has made in implementing a robust Assurance of Learning program as the key reasons for extending our AACSB accreditation," said Stefanie Lenway, dean of the UIC College of Business Administration. "We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment and will continue to uphold the AACSB standards that provide a valuable guide for educating future business leaders."
