BS Accounting

The Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree is divided into four components. Course work must total 120 semester hours, as follows:

  • General Education: 60 hrs.
  • Business Core: 33 hrs.
  • Major: 27-28 hrs.

Integrative Course--Competitive Strategies
All students must take one integrative course. Taking one of the following courses may satisfy this requirement: Actg 495, Econ 495, Fin 495, IDS 495 or Mgmt 495. Note that all of these courses have the same prerequisites (senior standing and completion of all the other CBA core courses). Students may take the integrative course in any department, not necessarily in their major (4 hrs)
Other Graduation Requirements Foreign Language
The College of Business Administration requires at least two years of a single foreign language in high school (with minimum grades of "C") as a criterion for admissions. Students with a deficiency in this area must take, after admission to UIC, two semesters of a single foreign language at the college level, with minimum grades of "C"

Students who intend to sit for the CPA exam are recommended to take Accounting 355, 417,446, 456 and 465 as electives.
