Accounting Undergraduate Program Requirements

Entrance Requirement: You start in the accounting program by taking Accounting 315. To take this course and major in accounting students must satisfy one of the following conditions:

  • "B" average in Accounting 210 and Accouting 211 at UIC.
  • A "Pass" in the Accounting Qualifying Examination.


Transfer students: Students must also satisfy one of the two conditions above. If you have already taken courses in financial accounting and managerial accounting, you must pass the Accounting Qualifying Exam (AQE) or fill out a Provisional Petition form to retake Accounting 210 and Accounting 211 in the same term. The Provisional Petition form is available in the Accounting Department.

Continuation Requirement: Students must earn a "C" or better in Accounting 315 and 326 to be eligible to continue as an accounting major. Only one repeat, after initial registration, of Accounting 315 and 326 will be allowed for a student to remain an accounting major.

Graduation Requirement: To be eligible for graduation, BS-Accounting majors must maintain a minimum overall "C" average in all courses and "C" average in accounting major courses.
