The economics department offers undergraduate (BS, BA), master's and PhD programs in economics. At the various levels, students acquire a firm foundation in economic theory and solid training in applied economics. The department is committed to excellence in teaching and research and has special strengths in labor economics and human resources, urban and regional economics, health economics, international economics, econometrics and time series analysis, environmental economics, and microeconomics and macroeconomics. Economics courses are open to all UIC students regardless of the college in which they are enrolled. The department of economics is committed to promoting excellence in teaching economics through the activities of the Center for Economic Education and the Certificate in Teaching Economics.
