King-Tim Mak is a faculty member at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He Holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and Mangement Science from Northwestern University, and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of California at Berkeley.

In the early part of his academic career Dr. Mak worked on mathematical economics, production theory, operations research, and functional equations. He published in a variety of journals in economics, operations research and mathematics.

Later on in his career, in pursuit of a deeper understanding of the structure and practice of modern business, Dr. Mak devoted his time to study real world business operations, strategy and organization theory, system theory, architecture,war fighting and philosophy. His long-term research project is begining to bear results. He recently published articles about the emerging information system architecture, the natuer of evolving knowledge supply networks, and on the novel competitive strategies unfolding in the wireless industry.

Dr. Mak's current research focus is on developing, by extending Pierce's seminal works, a pragmatist logic to serve as the logical foundation for the orchestration of knowledge, the architecture of systems, and the organic execution of mission tactics that are necessary for winning in the current global knowledge and technology driven competition in business.
