LGSB Achievements and Awards

  • Professors John McDonald and Dan McMillen were elected Fellows of the Regional Science Association International, which is comprised of a community of scholars interested in the regional impacts of national or global processes of economic and social change..

  • Jheel Jawharkar, Liautaud MBA student and president of the MBA Association has been selected as a recipient of a 2008 Chancellor's Student Service Award, which is presented to a select group of UIC students each year that have made outstanding contributions to the university through campus and community service.

  • MS in MIS students Faisal Farooqui and Arun Muthalagu, and Mindy Isherwood, an undergraduate student majoring in information and decision sciences, were recently selected by the Illinois Technology Association as three of Illinois' Fifty for the Future in Technology. The Fifty for the Future is an annual program that recognizes top students interested in the technology industry.

  • MBA students Jacques Logan and Melanie Hampton have been selected as the recipient of the University of Illinois Alumni Association's 2008 Student Leadership Award, which is presented to students exhibiting outstanding leadership skills and involvement in diverse student organizations. Congratulations to them both.

  • HeartSounds, a team founded by Liautaud Graduate School of Business MBA students Amir Bastawrous, Matthew Norris and Michael McCoy, took first place in the third annual Concept2Venture Business Plan Competition. The startup venture is based upon acoustic-based, non-invasive medical devices for diagnostic and telemetric applications.
