Program Overview
Yes, you can integrate your MBA curriculum with your current career. Our hands-on experiential learning provides the foundation for a stellar, lifelong career with the practical skills for current day success.
The UIC Liautaud MBA may be pursued on a part-time or full-time basis. Part-time students register for one or two courses per semester and complete the program in three to four years; full-time students complete the program in approximately two years.
Each course meets once a week for 16 weeks, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. All of our core courses are also offered online and some elective courses are offered on Saturday mornings.
The UIC Liautaud MBA program is a 13.5 course (54 credit hours) program comprised of six core courses (24 credit hours) and 7.5 advanced electives (30 credit hours).
The core courses are designed to provide students with a basic business foundation. These courses will teach you the fundamental concepts needed to deepen your functional business knowledge. The core curriculum consists of the following six courses (24 credit hours):
Following the completion of the core courses, 30 credit hours of advanced elective courses are taken. Using advanced electives, MBA students customize their curriculum to meet their individual career interests and goals by emphasizing one or more of the following concentrations. In order to complete a concentration, you must complete three courses within the following fields of study:
*The Self-Directed option is for individuals who would like to customize their plan of study to reflect specific career goals. Students work with their advisors to prepare a study plan, and once approved, this option provides a broad range of course work as well as exposure to different disciplines.
A distinctive feature of the UIC Liautaud MBA program is the Professional Topics Series. Unlike traditional courses, PTS courses meet for half a semester (eight-week period) and students earn two credit hours per course. Students may apply up to three of these courses toward their MBA degree. Course offerings change frequently to reflect current business trends, faculty research, and student interest.
