Dr. Arkalgud Ramaprasad
Dr. Ram is a Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and is also the Director of the Center for Research in Information Management (CRIM) there. He teaches courses and conducts research in management of information, and promotes industry-university partnerships in education and research related to that topic. He has been at the University of Illinois at Chicago since 2000.

He is an eclectic thinker, which sometimes gets him into trouble. But you can always count on an interesting discussion with him on a variety of topics, inside a classroom and outside. He has mellowed in the last few years and rarely indulges in heated verbal battles as he used to do. He keeps fit by doing yoga and walking.

He is amused when people address him by his first name feigning familiarity. It is actually the name of his village in India. His last name is his given name. If the syllables twist your tongue too hard, just call him Ram (pronounced as Rom). If you are a student, you lose five percentage points for misspelling his name on an assignment.

His current research interests are eMedicine, eBusiness Strategy, Information Systems Discontinuity, and Information Systems Operability. He has published in Behavioral Science, Management Science, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, European Journal of Information Systems, Omega, Decision Sciences, and other journals. In 2001, his goal was to make the Department of Information and Decision Sciences a premier department in its fields, and the Center for Research in Information Management the premier center for information management research in the Silicon Prairie.
