Calculating Your Grade Point Average (GPA)
GPA is determined by dividing your total grade points by your total graded hours.
The following is an example of how to figure out your GPA:
| Course | Hours | Grade | Grade Points | |||
| Engl 161 | 3 | x | B | = | 9 | |
| Math 160 | 5 | x | A | = | 20 | |
| Econ 130 | 5 | x | C | = | 10 | |
| TOTAL | 13 | 39 | GPA = 3.00 |
- Calculate your total graded hours. Add up all of your graded hours for the semester (13).
- Calculate your grade points. Add up your total number of grade points (39). To get this number, multiply the value of the letter grade (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0) by the number of credit hours the class is worth.
- Divide the total grade points by the total credit hours (3.00). This is your GPA.
