Purpose

The Corporate Discovery Program program helps make the business community more accessible to our students. Exposure to life inside a real company helps students understand how to apply what they learn in the classroom to the real world. In turn, the companies receive a captive audience and an opportunity to promote their own businesses. The collaboration and unique partnership between the College of Business Administration and the Chicago area business community cannot be underestimated.

Schedule

One company per month will be featured during the months of September, October, November, January, February, March and April. Major CBA disciplines (accounting, economics, finance, information and decision sciences, management and marketing) will be covered throughout the course of the year.

The Role of your Academic Advisor

  • To help you understand the academic and administrative processes of the university and the CBA
  • Encourage you to become engaged in the educational process and develop decision making skills
  • Provide accurate information about curriculum options and degree requirements
  • Assist you in your exploration of educational and life goals
  • Help you plan a course of study and give advice about courses and course loads
  • Refer you to support programs and other resources when appropriate

Agenda

Each event will be tailored specifically to each company, with the following suggested guidelines:

  • Presentations by various employees
  • Tour (if applicable)
  • Question and answer session
  • Discussion of employment opportunities
  • Refreshments or lunch

Transportation is the responsibility of the program participants.

Student Requirements

Students must meet the following guidelines in order to participate:

  • Be a career-minded junior or senior
  • Agree to be prompt and to fulfill the commitment to attend the event
  • Be professional and interactive (business professional attire required)
  • Agree to provide any follow-up information if asked, such as a thank you letter to the company
  • Sign up to attend will be on a first-come-first-served basis, and programs will be limited to 10 - 15 students
