Rules For Success in 446
- Read all material before coming to class.
- Study at least 3 hrs for every hour in class. This is a 3 hr class so you should
be studying a minimum of 9 hrs a week.
- Do well relative to the rest of the class on all exams.
- Turn in all assignments and participate in the oral presentation.
- Remember this is an advanced class, not an introductory class. That means you are
prepared to take an advanced tax class and do not need tutorial help from your first tax
class.
- This class is generally for students who have an interest in entering the tax
profession, not just acquiring an additional three hours of credit toward a degree.
So be prepared for a difficult class. Not because the instructor makes it difficult
but because it is the nature of the class.
- Generally, students who do well in this class have done well in their previous tax
class, as well as Actg 315 and 316.
- Study, Study, Study.
- It is assumed that you have written research papers in your academic career and have
completed one tax research project in your first tax class. If you haven't, be
prepared to be a quick study. We do not have time to work on skills that should have
been acquired before entering this class.
- Attend class. Reading the book alone is not a guarantee of success.
Material from the instructor does not necessarily come from the text.
