SEPARATING SURFACES TO OTHER LEVELS
This procedure will separate your surfaces from your wire frame elements, moving them to different levels. If you have all your elements on one level it is best to separate the surfaces to another level before rendering. This can be done manually by trying to select each individual surface element and then changing their level attribute; or a better way is to use Select By Attributes to select all elemnets of a chosen type (such as surfaces) to change.
- Open View Levels window. Menu Settings Levels Display.
- Select level one for display (or which ever level has the mixed elements) and level two to be active (or which ever level you want surfaces to move to). Don't forget to Apply.
- Open Select By Attributes window. Menu Edit Select By Attributes.
- In the Types group select all surface types you may have used (Bspline surfaces, Surfaces, Shapes etc.).
- Make sure the Mode group has the following settings:
- Click on Execute to apply these selction criteria.
- Use the Change Element Attributes tool to change the level these elements are assigned to. You will notice all surface elements now have selection handles displayed. These elements can be altered by any action command. To change element level:
- Change Level Attributes
- Check the Level check box and make sure its is set to 2 (or appropriate level)
- Click in view
- In the View Levels window turn off level one. Don't forget to Apply. The surfaces should now be on level 2 exclusively.
- Render!
