A democratic civilization will save itself
only if it makes the language of the image into a stimulus for critical
reflection, not an invitation to hypnosis.

Center for Media Literacy
Learn to use critical thinking skills
in accessing, analyzing, evaluating, and creating media.
This is a wonderful site for art teachers who want to make investigating
the ways in which media shape our perceptions an integral part of
the art curriculum.
The site contains a compilation of classic media literacy articles.
These will be of use to the teacher structuring a curriculum and
planning projects. Many of the articles are also suitable for use
as classroom readings. A number of articles focus on particular
themes such as violence, values, dads, beauty, and family.
