Title: Chapter 07.03 Instructor Animation (.swf)
Caption: Transcription: DNA participates in protein synthesis through an RNA intermediate, called messenger RNA (mRNA). The transfer of the information from DNA to RNA occurs through transcription. In transcription, the enzyme RNA polymerase engages the DNA of a gene at the promoter region. The enzyme then opens the DNA double helix and makes a complementary copy of the DNA, forming phosphodiester bonds between the incoming ATP, GTP, UTP, and CTP ribonucleotides.
