Relating to September 11th

 

 

Reflecting on past events affects who we are, and how we look at the future.  People change everyday, because everyday we encounter new experiences that help shape us.  These experiences give us memories, emotions and knowledge, which help to continually change us.  Although September 11th was an event of a larger scale, this experience was no different.   We have memories of September 11th, which have created new emotions and knowledge for most Americans.

 

This web page examines memory and different aspects of how and what we remember.  After researching memory, we then asked ourselves, how are we going to remember September 11th?  We can to the conclusion that everyone is going to remember September 11th differently.  There are no set findings for memory (i.e. exactly how much one is going to remember, exactly what details one will remember) therefore memories are based on many different personal aspects.

 

Although we all experienced the same event, we all had different experiences, and therefore we all created different memories. This is important when examining September 11th.  Everyone experienced this tragedy differently, and when examining it, you cannot assume one person will cope or view it the same was as another. 

 

In conclusion, the question still arises, how are we going to remember September 11th? This now becomes a personal question.  Looking through our web page you can examine your own memory and ask yourself the question, how am I going to remember September 11th?
