Class Survey

A survey that included forty-three subjects was conducted in a Communication Technology course at the University of Illinois at Chicago regarding the September 11th terrorist attacks and Internet usage.  Subjects were asked to respond to five questions.

 

1.                  Twenty-five students (58%) used search engines to retrieve information regarding the attacks and eighteen students (42%) did not.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2.         Fifteen students (35%) always find the information they are looking for on search engines, twenty-eight students (65%) do not.

 

 

 

 

 

 

3.                  Thirty-three students (77%) did not notice any changes to search engines after the attacks, while ten students (23%) did.

 

 

 

 

 

 

4.         Students were asked how often they used search engines. Twenty-eight students (65 %) use them all the time; eleven students (26%) only use them for academic research, and four students (9%) use search engines for other purposes.
