Instructions for downloading PDF Versions of Class Schedules into Pocket PC.

1.      Go to the web page with the class schedules and choose PDF version.

http://dentistry.uic.edu/AcademicAffairs/schedules.htm

These pages will appear in your browser as a PDF file.

2.      Save the PDF version to your desktop PC as a PDF file.  Choose the “save as” icon in the PDF window and not from the Internet Explorer icons.   Name the file and save it to your hard drive .

3.  You can either manually move this PDF file from the desktop PC to your Pocket PC once you have synced the two devices.  To do this, click on "Explore" in the AcitveSyc window.  This will allow you to see all the directories in the Pocket PC.  It is best to create a folder called “PDF” in the Pocket PC in which to transfer the PDF files.
-Or you may save the PDF file, or for that matter any type of file, to have it automatically transferred from the desktop PC to the Pocket PC whenever they are synced.  To do this, you must first locate the Pocket PC sync folder on the desktop PC.  This will be found as a folder titled "Pocket_PC". Place any files you wish to transfer to the Pocket PC in this folder and it will automatically transfer these files to the Pocket PC device.

4.      Now that the PDF file is in your pocket PC you'll need a Pocket PC PDF viewer.  This can be obtained free from the Adobe Acrobat site. http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/acrrmobiledevices.html

5.      Download this program and install it in your Pocket PC.

In the Pocket PC, open the acrobat Pocket PC viewer and it will list all the PDF files in your device.  You may now select a PDF file you wish to view.  Be sure to turn off the "reflow" setting to view an intact table!  To accomplish this, if you see that the table structure of the PDF file is not intact, tap on the PDA screen.  A small circle of red dots will appear followed by a text box.  In the text box be sure that the "reflow" setting is not checked.  You will now be able to  view be intact table.   By pressing lightly with your stylus on the screen you'll be able to move the table around for viewing.
