Course Software

What software do I need?

You will need the following software and plugins on your computer to participate (click any item to go to a more detailed explanation):

1. Web Browser

You will need Netscape Navigator 4.7, or Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher (Explorer 6 recommended). To check the version of your browser see the following:

How do I determine which browser I am using?
Windows Macintosh
From your browser, go to the Help menu and choose "About..." A screen will appear showing which browser and version you are using. From your browser, go to the Apple menu. Choose either "About Netscape" or "About Internet Explorer". A screen will appear showing which version you are using.

How do I upgrade my browser?

Internet Explorer Netscape
Go to Microsoft Internet Explorer Download. Instructions provided there will help you with download and installation. Go to Netscape Download. Instructions provided there will help you with download and installation.

2. Email

You will not need email to participate directly in course activities, however, we will use your email account to contact you with all course related information. If you do not have an email account, free accounts are available from many sources including Yahoo, Netscape, and Microsoft.

3. Macromedia Flash Plugin

The online lecture is presented using streaming media. You will need the latest Macromedia Flash Plugin installed in your browser to view the presentation and listen to the instructor. Click this link to get the free download of the Macromedia Flash Player. Instructions provided there will help you with the download and installation.

4. Java Script & Cookies Enabled

Your web browser needs to have the settings for Java Script and Cookies enabled.

How do enable Java Script & Cookies?

Internet Explorer Netscape
Enable Java Script: Open Explorer and click "Tools", then "Internet Options", then the "Advanced" tab. Scroll down and put a check mark before "JIT Compiler for Virtual Machine Enabled". Restart your computer. Enable Java Script: Open Netscape and click "Edit", then "Preferences", then "Advanced." In the right-hand panel put a check mark before "Enable Java" and "Enable Java Script."
Enable Cookies: Open Explorer and click "Tools", then "Internet Options", then the Privacy tab. On the slider bar, change the setting to either "Medium," "Low," or "Accept All Cookies." You can reset this after a case session if you wish. Enable Cookies: Open Netscape and click "Edit", then "Preferences", then "Advanced." In the right-hand panel check "Accept All Cookies." You can reset this after a case session if you wish.

5. Adobe Acrobat Reader

Some of the course reference material is provided in Adobe Acrobat format. You will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader to view or print these files. Click this link to download the Free Acrobat Reader. Instructions provided there will help you with the download and installation.
