OVERALL PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

 The overall objectives of the Preventive Dentistry course are to:

· Introduce students to the concepts of prevention and the

  important of prevention of oral diseases.

· Provide an overview of common oral diseases.

 

· Introduce students to various methods of primary and 

  secondary prevention of dental caries and periodontal diseases.

· Introduce students to the technics of prevention and control of

  dental diseases including plaque control, risk assessment of

  dental caries and periodontal diseases, scaling, root planing and

  prophylaxis.
