Treatment Goals
- Treat the
patient to control the infection.

- This involves:
- Use of appearance and texture of cavitated and
noncaviated lesions (see clinical
exam), which surfaces are involved and clinical assessment..
- Treatment with chlorhexidine (a
specific bactericidal rinse) for 2-4 weeks to control the infection.
- Monitoring after treatment.
Heal the incipient
lesion (nonrestorative procedure).
Arrest caries
and restore cavitated lesions (restorative procedure).
