Using no more than a few sentences, lay out the thesis of your paper.

 

What are the reasons that serve to support your thesis?

Briefly state the strongest argument against your thesis.  Pinpoint the weakest point of your argument and say exactly what your opponent will attack.  (Remember the Principle of Charity – this must be an attack that the other side would be willing to endorse!)

 

Briefly outline how you will respond to this.  In doing so, make sure you explain both why the other side would (mistakenly) see their view as attractive and where they went wrong.  Be precise – what exactly is the problem with their argument?
