You
are to prepare a PowerPoint presentation of your final project for presentation
to the group on the last day of class. Presentations should consist of a 10-15
min talk with no more than 20 slides. Students should follow the format of a
pre-thesis proposal. Your
presentation will also be published on your web site.
Faculty who participated in the class will be invited to attend the final
presentations.
1)
Design a project, of your own choosing, that utilizes at least 5 of the
techniques you were introduced to. You are not limited to the methods presented
in the course.
2)
State the hypothesis you will be testing and give a very brief background
to introduce your proposal.
3)
Present an outline of the approach you will take to test your hypothesis
stating which methods you will use and the order in which you will use them
4)
Describe the design of your experiment.
Consider what controls you will use and how you will analyze and
interpret your data. Consider the
limitations of the methodology. Do
not list methodological details such as buffer concentrations etc., instead,
concentrate on the design of the experiment and how you would use each method to
address one aspect of your hypothesis
5)
The emphasis should be on concept and understanding of the methodology
instead of on the details of the method. Remember, this is should be brief
6)
Please
use correct grammar and spelling.
This
exercise should be fun and help integrate the various methods into a cohesive
experimental approach. This will
also provide you with the opportunity to present a talk using PowerPoint.
