Please visit last years students home pages for ideas and inspiration. Links to these are found on the PHYB569 web site: http://www.uic.edu/classes/phyb/phyb569/.
You are required to report on each session, each week. Please post your report to your website, then send an e-mail to Dr. Hales that contains a link to your report (dbhale@uic.edu). Your report should be brief, but include enough description so that your comprehension of the subject can be assessed. Your reports are due before Tuesdays class of the following week. The faculty who teach each session are encouraged to visit your site and read your report about their session.
The final exam will consist of a PowerPoint presentation of approximately 10-15 minutes in length. Students will design a project that utilizes at least 5 of the techniques that were discussed during the semester. The emphasis should be on designing experiments with proper controls and should include a discussion of data analysis and interpretation. It is important for students to consider the limitations of each technique, as well as its applications. Students should follow the format of a pre-thesis proposal. Interested faculty are invited to attend the final exam presentations. Students will also publish their PowerPoint presentations on their web page.
