Week 8 Lab/Discussion Section Assignment

There will be no readings for this week. Instead, I would like for you to come to your section prepared to discuss evolution, adaptations, and psychology.

Specifically, I would like for you to

1. Think of some aspect of human psychology that might be construed as an adapation--something that might have evolved via natural selection that might contribute to the inclusive fitness of the individual.

2. Be prepared to explain why this feature may be an adaptation. In other words, is it likely that it (a) is heritable and (b) promotes differential reproductive success among those who do and do not have the feature?

3. Try to think of some aspects of human psychology that are unlikely to be adaptations.

Please be prepared to discuss these issues in section. There is no need to write a paper, but please feel free to jot down you ideas if you think doing so will be helpful.
