Housing
University housing is located within a few blocks of the department. A variety of single and double rooms as well as apartments are available. Some of our students live off-campus and find housing in the community. Chicago is a city of neighborhoods, and affordable apartments are available in many of the interesting areas in the vicinity of the College of Medicine.

Transportation
The public transportation system in Chicago is excellent, with buses, subways, and elevated trains operating 24 hours a day. The location of the UIC Medical Center makes it an easy commute from virtually anywhere in the city and suburbs. Because of the accessibility of rapid transit, most students do not find a car necessary.

UIC is located near the center of Chicago, a vibrant world-class city with a tremendous diversity of neighborhoods, renowned cultural attractions, extensive parks and recreational venues, and a beautiful setting on the shore of Lake Michigan.
