Arrhythmia / Electrophysiology

At University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System, our mission is to offer unique, advanced diagnostic and therapeutic options for patients with atrial fibrillation, ventricular arrhythmias, and other electrophysiology issues.  UIC faculty has been at the center of cardiac electrophysiology innovation.  In collaboration with Boston Scientific the Cryo Balloon atrial fibrillation ablation technology was developed at UIC.  UIC faculty is continually innovating to improve current therapeutic arrhythmia technologies and introduce new techniques and tools to make curative technologies safer and more effective.

Diagnostic procedures

Electrophysiology study

Tilt table test

Event recorder

Holter monitor

Implantable loop recorder

Therapeutic procedures – Device implantation

Pacemaker implantation

Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator implantation

Cardiac resynchronization therapy

Therapeutic procedures – ablation

     Radiofrequency ablation of ventricular arrhythmia’s

     Radiofrequency ablation of supraventricular arrhythmia’s

     Radiofrequency ablation of atrial fibrillation

     Cryo-balloon ablation of atrial fibrillation

Non- contact mapping and intra-cardiac echocardiography

In addition to applying the most advanced techniques and technology in the EP lab, we pursue an active research program, including basic research, animal research, and human trials.
