Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) Program
The CMR program at the University of Illinois was started in 2010 as an initiative
of the Section of Cardiology and has rapidly grown to be one of the highest volume
clinical programs in the region receiving referrals from throughout the Chicago-land
area.
The very latest Philips and GE 1.5 and 3 Tesla scanners produce images of superb
quality and resolution, providing a detailed assessment of the anatomy and function
of the heart.
We have developed particular expertise and experience in CMR stress testing which
provides the most accurate non-invasive assessment of the severity of coronary artery
disease available as well as its impact on heart muscle function.
The clinical CMR service is complemented by a productive clinical research program
as well as a training program for Cardiology fellows.
