Our Mission - Patient Care, Teaching and Research

The Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism has as its foundation, The University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and public service. Section facilities include an in-hospital office complex, dedicated clinical endocrine and research laboratories, and clinical research center.

We provide specialized care for patients with diseases of the endocrine glands, including thyroid disease and osteoporosis. We offer complete diagnostic and therapeutic services. Areas of expertise include pituitary disorders, gonadal problems, calcium and parathyroid gland disorders, hirsuitism and adrenal problems. Our specialists are also involved in leading research efforts into the effects of radiation on the endocrine glands, nutrition and diabetes, the causes of diabetes, the effects of hormones on the bones and the prevention of osteoporosis.
