Gastroenterology
Procedural Training
Procedures

Full exposure to all procedures performed by gastroenterologists is provided to fellows during the course of their training. Depending on an individual's interests, competancy in all procedures including those identified as "3rd tier" can be attained during the 3 year training period. The chart lists the number of indicated procedures obtained by two different recent graduates.

Note that these numbers are well above the minimum required for certification as defined by the ASGE.

Incidentally, one fellow pursued a laboratory-based research career, while the other has gone into private practice. This indicates that regardless of the career path the trainee pursues, ample procedural training is provided.
