Research is integral to the activities of the faculty, and all fellows are expected to become involved in either clinical or bench research during their fellowship training.
Exposure to the rigorous thinking of the research environment forces the trainee to adopt this mindset in their own approach to reading the literature and adopting new information to clinical practice. As such all trainees, whether they desire pursuing an academic career or not, benefit from exposure to the research environment at UIC.
A full description of each faculty member's research can be found by searching their individual homepages, whereas a "thumbnail" sketch of the interests of the Division's basic scientists can be seen in the section outlining Postdoctoral Opportunities available to MD's and PhD's interested in a laboratory-based career.
