FGICU and You

Does your family have a history of colorectal and other cancers and you feel you might be at risk? The Familial Gastrointestinal Cancer Unit (FGICU) of the University of Illinois at Chicago provides risk assessment, genetic counseling services and genetic testing to people concerned about a family history of cancer. We can provide information you need to make informed choices, assess risks, and plan for tomorrow.

The FGICU is a multidisciplinary unit to care for patients and families who may be affected by a hereditary GI cancer syndrome and is the only facility in Chicago that specializes in Gastrointestinal cancer genetics. We provide comprehensive state-of-the-art care for all members of families that have a high risk for developing gastrointestinal or other types of related cancers because of an inherited predisposition. We understand every person’s situation is unique. Which is why we not only strive to empower our patients with the information they need, but to treat them with compassion, respect and professional care.

We provide comprehensive state-of-the-art care for all members of families that have a high risk for developing gastrointestinal or other types of related cancers because of an inherited predisposition.
