Research Overview

The College of Medicine received more than $63 million in National Institutes of Health research funding in fiscal year 2001. The college currently is ranked 47th among 125 medical schools nationwide in the amount of federal research funding-particularly NIH funding-received by 125 medical schools nationwide (five years ago, it was ranked 65th). The College's goal is to rank in the top quartile. The College of Medicine is among the top five medical schools nationwide for growth in research funding in the last five years.

  •      The General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) provides physicians and scientists with the necessary environment, equipment and personnel to optimize research goals. The GCRC fosters education in clinical research at all levels of training.
