RESEARCH INTERESTS:
My research explores the interaction of pathogenic bacteria with the cells of the human host, and seeks to understand the mechanisms by which bacteria exploit this interaction to favor their survival in the body.  Specifically, I am interested in the signaling pathways activated in intestinal cells in response to infection with various bacteria including enteropathogenic E. coli, enterohemorrhagic E. coli, Yersinia enterocolitica and Yersinia pseudotuberculosis.  Dissecting the processess involved in infection will eventually contribute to a global picture of the specific diseases caused  by these organisms, and could provide insights into possible therapeutic approaches.
